Hi my little sunshine’s!
I’ve been in a weird mood this week, I think it’s the weather TBH, we have had the coldest and snowiest winter, and I’m over it. It’s starting to weigh on my mood and make me feel blue, unmotivated, and wanting vacation more than ever. So today I want to focus on warmer and sunshine(y) days ahead! Last week I got several messages from y’all requesting a more formal review of these shorts, so this post is going to be all about my overall thoughts on these, my fit review, and sizing recommendations (I hope you all don’t mind the low quality mirror photos, it’s been single digit temps, 40 mph winds, and snow, non-stop this month).

Overall Review:
Long story short- I wanted these shorts last year, but just couldn’t bring myself to pull the trigger on them (mostly due to the cost). I knew I wanted something that was slightly distressed, high-rise, and comfy. So I settled for a pair from Free People, and while they worked, I didn’t ‘love’ them. I decided that I wanted to bite the bullet and give these a shot. I ordered them, counted down the minutes until they arrived (God bless free 2 day shipping), and fell in love the moment I put them on. These shorts are exactly what I think of when I think of the perfect pair of high-rise denim. They look perfectly distressed, the light-wash is on point and they fit like a glove. They ever-so-slightly flare at the leg, which helps slim the thigh. They are just a total dream and I’m so excited to wear these on our upcoming trip and all summer long.
Fit & Sizing:
Like I mentioned above, these are a high-rise denim short with a bit of a flair to the leg. I purchased them in the color Swapmeet. I purchased them in a size 27 and 28 (I own both a 27 & 28 in my 10” high-rise jeans from Madewell) and I kept the 28s. I would say these babes run TTS but I will add, if you have a very defined waist (I am straighter/more athletic) then I would size down just 1 size, or if you are looking for a more ‘fitted’ look.

Style Inspiration:
Another thing I love about these shorts is how easy they are to dress up or down. Here are just two examples; one casual look + one a bit dressier. Which look is your favorite? I am torn because I like them for different reasons!

Links to Shop:
**ShopBop’s ‘Buy More Save More’ sale is happening NOW! So many items I am featuring in this post are included (I’ve linked items included in the sale, but also included the link to another retailer incase you want an item and it’s sold out on ShopBop). The sale runs through March 2nd and with code *GOBIG19* get 15% off orders of $200+, 20% off orders of $500+, and 25% off orders of $800+**
Shorts: They are currently on sale here but they’re selling out fast, so grab them up if you have your eye on them! You can also find them here.
‘Casual’ Look Outfit Details:
Sun Hat: I found this hat a few months back, and I’m so excited to show it off to you guys. This hat is a MUST for beach vacations and the summer months. And it’s under $20!
White Tie Tee: I love Lululemon’s basics. This tee is so soft and comfy, and I think the tie front is a super cute detail. Wearing a size 6. Runs TTS. – update, sold out!
Cognac Flip Flops: If you have been debating the Tory Burch Miller Sandals, pull the trigger. They are my go-to sandal for the summer. The color go’s with literally everything! These are also included in the ShopBop sale that runs through March 2nd. They run TTS, I am wearing them in a size 8. Other colors I own are the bleach and the tan/black squared toe version.
Sunglasses: I love this retailers sunglasses! Such great quality for the price.
‘Dressier’ Look Outfit Details:
Gingham Blazer: Do I need to say more? Haha, kidding! But I’m literally obsessed with this blazer, the preppy girl in me is just screaming, I’m such a sucker for gingham, and the peach color is just so bright and happy. I am normally a size 2 in blazers/jackets, and I am wearing a size small. The material is super soft and lightweight, making it perfect for layering in the Spring and Summer months.
Sneakers: These are amazing! I did a full review on them, here. I am wearing a size 8, run TTS. Bonus, also apart of the ShopBop sale!
Sunglasses: Same as above 😊
Straw Bag: Okay, can we just take a moment for this bag. I saw this bag last year this time and was obsessed, like so obsessed, but wasn’t willing to pay that much for a ‘trendy’ item. So what did I do? Stalked it like a crazy ex-girlfriend, until it went on major sale. I actually got this on their winter clearance about a month ago, and I couldn’t be happier.
And guess what? They brought this bag back for Spring AGAIN, and the only ‘real’ difference I can tell in mine (last year’s version) and this year `is the tortoise strap is a little lighter, that’s it!! This spring, they also came out with a blush version and is just stunning. If you are someone who doesn’t care if its ‘last season’, like me, just keep an eye on the item! Other designers like Clare V. and Cult Gaia always clearance out ‘last years’ stuff around January and release the same bag/very similar a month later at full price. I will say, this bag is stunning, photos really don’t do it justice.
Don’t want to wait? Sign up for their emails and get 10% off (any little bit helps).
Keep an eye out, I will be rounding up my favorite spring accessories (think bags & jewelry!), in the coming week. Straw is super trendy this spring and summer, so there will be a few of straw bag picks included!
This years version of this bag is also included in the ShopBop sale- however it does seem to be going in and out of stock. You can find it here.
Straw Earrings: I love these. So lightweight and so versatile! Packing these for my trip! Also included in the sale 🙂
Sun Hat: This is the perfect light straw sun hat! I would say I have a ‘normal’ size head and I bought the medium, the small probably would have worked too, but I have thick hair and wanted it to be safe! It’s apart of the ShopBop sale, here. But you can also find it here.
White Tank: These are my go-to tank tops for summer! I own them in several colors. Run TTS.
That’s all for today! I hope if you were on the fence about buying these it helped you make a decision or if you already own them, I hope the style ideas were helpful! Also! If you have question on the size/fit/etc. don’t hesitate to reach out! Have a great Wednesday, friends!
