Espadrille Sneakers: Save or Splurge!

Hi babes!
How is everyone’s week going? Mines been okay, we are supposed to get another snow storm tonight into Wednesday, ugh! If you live in Wisconsin or Minnesota you are probably feeling the same way. For the past month we have just been getting pounded with snow. BUT, my family and I are headed south in a few weeks for a spring break trip, so I’ve been using that as motivation to get through the cold, wind, and slush! I’m definitely looking forward to spending time with my favorite people in the sand and the sun, but I’m also looking forward to wearing all the cute swimsuits, clothes, shoes, and accessories I’ve been stocking up on! So today’s post is going to be all about espadrille sneakers!

bLOGPHOTOI love espadrille sneakers because they add such summery flair to a plain shoe! I love to wear them with a basic outfit like denim shorts and a tee, or pair them with a cute sun dress! So for the past few weeks I have been trying to hunt down the ‘perfect’ pair and I came across two great options, one more of a ‘splurge’ and one more of a ‘save’ option! I am going to go through both pairs and compare price, comfort, sizing, looks, fabric, and then I’ll dive into which pair I decided to keep and why as well as links for both pairs of sneakers and other items shown!

ESPADRILLUPDATED

SPLURGE: Tretorn Eve Sneaker
Price: $100
**if you create a ShopBop account on their app, use code 15FORME and get 15% off your first purchase- that would make these $89 (with taxes)
Comfort: I gave these five stars because they are very comfortable but the nature of the fabric they will only get more comfortable with time as you break them in and they mold to the shape of your foot
Sizing: Run TTS- I bought a size 9 and they fit perfectly
Look: Casual- remind me of Converse
Fabric: Denim
Color: Bright White

SAVE: Universal Thread Joelle Sneaker
Price: $28
Comfort: I gave these four stars because I was really surprised with how comfortable they are. I love all of my universal thread shoes, I took one star away because over time these will break down, but for the price, they are amazing!
Sizing: Universal Thread shoes tend to run slightly big, I sized down to the 7.5 and they fit perfectly
Looks: Casual- remind me of a Toms
Fabric: Cotton Canvas
Color: Cream (ish)

The Winner:
I decided to ‘splurge’ and keep the Tretorn Eve sneaker! TBH, I got the Universal Thread Shoes at my local Target, and they would have worked for what I wanted them for, however, when the Tretorn pair arrived at my house, I immediately feel in love, they were PERFECT and exactly the look I was going for. I loved how they looked on, the bright white, and the thick espadrille details sold me! I cannot wait to wear these on vacation and all spring/summer!

Items Pictured:

Universal Thread Joelle Sneaker: Save Option Above
Sun Hat: this is a splurge item, I actually accidentally got it on major sale (like when I say MAJOR, I mean MAJOR! So S/O to Nordstrom for honoring the price and score for me!) but I’ll be packing both the splurge and this one (save option) on my trip! The save option is AMAZING, like I’m obsessed with the look and the quality of it! If you spend any time in the sun, at the pool or beach, you need this! If you are looking for a lighter color straw hat, I own this one too!
Vacay Mode Tee: The reviews say it runs TTS, however, if in between sizes, I would size down! (they run a bit on the longer side!) They have so many cute designs and are super soft! I’ll be wearing this on the plane!
Sunglasses: I was in need of a new pair, I snagged these a few months ago and I love them!
Sunscreen: this is my FAVORITE sunscreen for my body. I pack both SPF 15 & 30. It’s got shimmer in the lotion so it makes your skin look so glowy while protecting you from the sun, I love it! Keep in mind that I tan pretty easily. But for all my fair skin gals, my sister uses the Sun Bum spray and loves it!
Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow: I’ve been loving this tinted moisturizer! It comes out a greenish white and when you apply it to your skin it adjusts to the shade you need! How cool! PSA- this has no SPF in it!
Woven Earrings: need I say more? These just scream warmer temps! Love the lighter tone of straw. They are super lightweight and comfortable too!
Denim Shorts: I had been eying these shorts for some time, I couldn’t bring myself to justify the price last year. But after spending all summer being disappointed with the ‘cheaper’ option I chose I decided that I needed these in my life. GUYS! IM OBSESSED! I will be doing a more detailed post on denim shorts in the coming week. But for now, the reviews on sizing are mixed, some say TTS and some say they run really large. I would say this, if you have a really defined waist, then size down, but if you are more straight/athletic like myself, I would stick with your true size. I purchased the 28 and love the fit (in the color Swapmeet). Sizes have been going in and out of stock, you can also find them at this retailer.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and I cannot wait to share more spring break inspired content soon! Have a great rest of your day!

Xo,

Taylor
