How to Style: Athleisure Looks

Hello Ladies! Happy Tuesday!

Today on the blog, I am sharing a few ways to achieve a cute athleisure look! Athleisure is a mix between everyday clothing and athletic clothing. Most often, these are my go-to weekend errand looks because they are both comfy and cute!

My favorite Athleisure Wear Retailers: They are a bit on the pricey side, however, I love athletic wear, so I invest in items that will stand the test of time. I do have a few odds and ends from other retailers, but Lululemon and Altheta make up about 99% of my athletic wardrobe.
• Lululemon: I cannot recommend this retailer enough, I’ve lived and breathed Lululemon since freshman year of HS (also- how was that already 10 years ago?). I stand by their brand and their products, I STILL have the first item I ever owned from there, it is a mint green forme jacket (they have since updated the jacket and is now called the Define Jacket). Since then, I’ve been growing my Lululemon wardrobe, and have gotten others addicted along the way! Once you give their products a try, you will never go back!
• Athleta: Athleta takes the cake for their to-from pieces! Like lululemon, they are so classic, they can remain in your closet for years! Altheta also offers more everyday pieces, like jeans and sneakers!

Ways to Wear Athleisure:
For those of you who are new to the trend, feel a little lost, or just need some guidance, I’m going to explain 3 different ways to pull of athleisure wear as well as share a few ways I like to style each category!

• Wear your workout clothes (athletic all the way) – just choose pieces that are cute. If you’re looking for the athleisure style to be more functional for you than anything (you want it to work for working out and running errands, etc.), you’re going to want to invest in a couple cute pieces. This can be anything from black leggings with fun details (I love this pair) or a chic hoodie. Everything is functional, but elevated and makes you feel stylish.

For this look, I chose a fun legging, this gray pair has a black herringbone detail. I paired them with this white tech tee and a black vest! To finish the look off, I paired it with my go-to slip on sneakers and this convertible scarf!

For this second look, I chose my tried and true Align leggings. Y’all, if you buy one thing from Lululemon, let it be these! They will change your life (TBH, I only own Spanx and lululemon leggings, that’s how good they are). I paired it with this white tee (these are the best because they feel like a cotton tee, but they wick away any sweat, and are not see through!), and this cropped army green windbreaker (which is old Lululemon, but this one and this one have a similar look)! I chose to pair my Sperry sneakers with this look because they pick up the hunter green in the jacket & are super comfortable!

• Wear your workout clothes and add in casual pieces (half casual, half athletic) – This takes those cute pieces I recommended purchasing above and mixes them with your favorite casual pieces. Think leather jacket, denim jacket, puffer vest, sunglasses, baseball cap, beanie, handbag, etc. This happens to be my favorite way to wear the athleisure trend. You’re comfortable, but you can elevate your look with whatever you have in your closet.

For this example, I decided to add a festive twist now that Christmas is only TWO WEEKS away! I paired my Align leggings with this adorable festive tee, and my go-to light washed denim jacket that is both super cute and super affordable! To finish the look off I again paired my go-to black slip on sneakers! This look is perfect for all of your last minute Christmas shopping!

• Wear a normal outfit and pair it with an athletic piece (very minimal athletic) – This way of wearing the athleisure trend is a little trickier than the other two, but something I love. Basically, you wear whatever you heart desires and then pair it with one (or two) athletic pieces. You instantly dress down your look, which is a nice way to balance out your outfit, but it also looks like you know what you’re doing. Those unexpected elements (pairing styles you don’t think go together) always create elevated looks. For example: sneakers with dresses, sweatshirt with a skirt, or a hat with a feminine blouse.

I wear this outfit on repeat both in warmer and colder months! Obviously, it’s December, and it’s cold, so I started with my Align leggings, again, as my ‘athletic’ piece and added in a fun graphic tee and a classic chambray shirt! In the summer months, I switch out the Aligns for these athletic shorts (which I own in all the colors, they are the BEST!)
