Hair & Beauty Favorites

Happy Thursday + Hello November!

I hope you all had a spook-tacular Halloween. We had a little potluck at work, which was so yummy, I also dressed up for work (I will share my costume at the end of this post). After work, I went over to my parent’s house to see all the little trick-or-treaters. Such a fun day! I’ve got the day off tomorrow, so today is technically my Friday (#TGIT)!

I wanted to do something a little different today, so we are taking a break from style inspiration and I am going to share with you my hair and beauty must-haves. All of these items have been a staple in my life for years, so you really could say these are my ride-or-die items! I have broken them down into the two respective categories: Hair & Make – Up

Hair Products:

For reference, I have thick, curly (which I straighten), and dry hair. I also wash my hair three times a week. These are the products that have been my go-to for years and would highly recommend them to you!

Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer: Let me just start off by saying, in no way am I saying that everyone needs this expensive of a hair dryer. What I will say is its 100% worth the money and then some. This (hands down) has been the most life changing product in my life. My parents gave this to me as a Christmas gift two years ago, and I couldn’t be happier with how it preforms. My dry time was cut in HALF from close to 45 minutes to 20 minutes! Aside from quicker dry time, the weight of this dryer is amazing, it’s SO light, and the noise level is SO low. I could go on about how amazing of a product this is, but I’ll spare you! If you are thinking about purchasing this for yourself, please feel free to reach out with any questions! I’d be happy to answer/help.

Living Proof No Frizz Nourishing Oil: Like I said above, my hair is very course and dry. I mix this with my Dry Remedy Oil (next product listed). On my shower days I will put this in my hair after I have blow dried/straightened my hair. On my non-shower days, I do a quick touch up with my straightener and place this on my ends first and then run it through the rest of my hair. Also, this smells AMAZING. I would recommend this to any ladies with dry hair, I would pass on this product if your hair tends to be on the oily side.

Aveda Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil: like I mentioned above, I mix this with my No Frizz oil, and use it in the same way as described above. I also use the Dry Remedy line from Aveda for my shampoo and conditioner, which has really helped with dryness between washes. Again, this would be a great product if you suffer with dry hair.

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day (PhD) 5-in-1 Styling Treatment: Living proof and Aveda are my FAVORITE hair care products. My Mom actually got me hooked on this product (I want to say close to 6 years ago) and I have used it sense! I mix this with my Smooth Infusion (the next product I am talking about) and run it through my hair after I towel dry my hair. For me, this product really helps tame the puffiness of my hair and keep it from getting overly frizzy.

Aveda Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Crème: Like I mentioned before, I really never leave my hair curly, its 99.9% of the time straightened, so this product is perfect because it smooths out the hair, making the blow drying / straightening process a lot easier.

Aveda Speed of Light Blow Dry Accelerator Spray: This is my most recent hair care obsession. My Mom and I go to the same hair stylist, and on my Mom’s most recent visit, Gina (who is a hair miracle worker) recommended this product, so my mom picked me up a bottle. AND IM HOOKED! This stuff is SO good. I mainly use this when I am showering in the morning before work because 4:30am is already early enough, so if I can use a product to cut my dry time down even more, I’ll take it! What I typically will do is blow dry my hair for maybe a minute, then spray and brush this product through, then continue to blow dry.

Kitsch Clear Hair Ties: I love these! I first picked these up for a beach vacation because I have very curly hair and regular elastic hair ties tend to get knotted when my hair is wet. From then on, I fell in love! These are great for light activity and leave a very minimal dent in your hair. I would forgo these for the gym, however!

Make-Up/Skin Care Products:

For reference, my skin type is normal/dry and very dull.

BECCA First Light Priming Filter: This, mixed with the backlight priming filter (which I talk about next) is my first step in my make up routine. This primer provides so much moisture to my skin, which is much needed.

BECCA Backlight Priming Filter: Like mentioned above, I mix this with the first light priming filter. I mix them because the previous primer provides my skin moisture, this one gives my skin such a glowing and dewy finish to my otherwise dry and dull complexion.

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist: I really don’t have anything else to say but, y’all need this in your life! I had been trigger shy on this product for months, until my parents gifted this to me for Christmas, and I am so happy they did because this has been an amazing addition to my beauty routine. I only wear concealer (no foundation) so I will spray this a few times on a foundation brush and use it to blend in my concealer. It blends your make up like a dream and give’s your face such a natural glow, I love it! They also sell this in a travel size if you are wanting to try it before committing to the larger bottle.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lash Primer: I have pretty thick lashes, but they are short. So I apply this product before my mascara to help lengthen them.

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara: I was a HUGE ‘Better Than Sex Mascara’ fan, until I tried this! I get the same outcome as the Too Faced product at a fraction of the cost. WINNER!

Mac Mineralize Skinfinish – Give Me Sun: if you know me, you know I worship the sun. This product gives my skin that sun kissed glow, even in the peak of winter. I just take a blush brush and buff this all over my neck and face. Also, this bronzer has NO glitter. Anyone else hate shimmer/glittery bronzers?

Buxom Full-On Lip Cream: I am definitely more of a gloss girl than a lipstick girl. So if you are a gloss loving girl like me, give these a try! They feel so great on the lip, smell amazing, and come in so many different shades. My two personal favorites are: Dolly and Mai Tai.

Purity Facial Cleanser by Philosophy: This is by far my favorite facial cleanser because it’s not harsh on your skin, has such a nice light sent, and gets ALL my make-up off! What more could you want?

That’s all for now! If you enjoyed this type of post, or if you would like to see more beauty related posts, please let me know! Also, gift guides will be starting next week, so stay tuned for that! Have a great rest of your week!

Xo,

Taylor
