Hi babes! Happy Thursday! The weekend is just around the corner, thank goodness! I am getting a much needed pedicure with my Mom tonight, and celebrating some birthdays this weekend, so it should be a fun weekend ahead!
I wanted to start a new series called ‘Save or Splurge” where I showcase items I think are worth the money and ‘dupes’ where you can get a similar look at a fraction of the price.
First of all, before I get into the items I am going to share…I just want to say that we all choose to spend our money on different things. I understand that not everyone is willing to splurge on specific items, and some people are. So, for each splurge item I share, I will also be including a dupe, and for each save item I share, I will also be sharing the authentic designer piece.
SAVE: Burberry Check Scarf Dupe
When it comes to building a great wardrobe, I believe it should be a good mix of high and low pieces. As much as I love designer items, it feels a lot more effortless when you pair every day, affordable pieces with them. I rarely buy expensive accessories and jewelry (besides my pearl earrings, those are a must!) Accessories are also a great place to find designer dupes and save money because they don’t get as much wear and tear as clothing, take this Burberry look alike scarf for example. I wanted something that resembled Burberry’s staple pattern: checkered plaid. I also wanted it in the classic tan, red, and black. Luckily, plenty of retailers carry great dupes! I found this one at DSW a few years ago, and it’s still such a staple in my closet.

SPLURGE: Burberry Quilted Jacket
Building a fall wardrobe can be intimidating knowing how steep prices can get when it comes to staples like coats. I’ve said before that fall and winter are the two seasons where I spend most on clothes for good reason. It’s important to have quality pieces that actually keep you warm. A fall coat will always be one of those essential items. Whether you prefer a lightweight trench or a heavyweight parka, there’s no doubt that a collection of fall coats will take you a long way. Since it’s the most visible item, it needs to be the highlight piece that pulls you together.
I had been eyeing this jacket my entire college career, so I told myself, you get a job right out of college, this will be your first big girl purchase, and it was! I’ve had this jacket for two years now, and it still looks brand spankin’ new! My designer items always outlast more affordable fashion pieces so I don’t have to worry about them getting damaged as easily because they hold up so well. I had a hard time choosing between the tan and the black, I ended up choosing the black because it worked with my wardrobe slightly better than the tan.
Warmth: This jacket is PERFECT for fall in the Midwest, I wear this jacket until temps get closer to the 30 mark. If you are in the south, this would be a perfect fall/winter coat for you.
Sizing: Fits TTS, however, I sized up to the medium so I could wear bulky sweaters under.
Dupes:
Option 1: This jacket is SO edgy, the leather trim accents adds a little something extra! This comes in two colors: Black with black leather trim, and hunter green with cognac leather trim. The green is a showstopper for sure.
Option 2: This jacket comes in four colors, the cream is my personal favorite, and you cannot beat the price!
