Happy Thursday! We are on the homestretch to the weekend, yahoo! The weather here in Wisconsin has been crazy, the first half of the week was in the mid-80s, and now today the high is only in the 40’s. I feel like we are going to cover all four seasons in the span of a week. Has cooler weather hit your neck of the woods yet?
I’ve got a SERIOUS thing for leggings! If you follow me on Instagram & Instagram stories, then you know that I sport my leather leggings quite often and basically create outfits around them! I find that leggings – and specifically faux leather leggings – are flattering, comfortable, and stylish, so they naturally fit into my everyday outfit rotation. And because I feature them often, I’ve gotten several requests to create a style guide on how to best pull off leather leggings with my tips and what to wear with leather leggings. As such, I decided to put together a roundup of outfits I’ve worn with my leather leggings for y’all, along with general do’s and don’ts for wearing them.
First order of business, the do’s and the don’ts: Remember that they’re leggings, not typical pants! You want to make sure what you’re wearing with them is tunic-length and covers the necessary areas (ha!) I feel like this is the most important tip when it comes to pulling off this look and leggings outfits in general. Also, all of the outfit ideas below are with this in mind – so whenever I’m mentioning a style, I’m assuming that you’re wearing tunic-length whatever!
Legging details and sizing: This particular pair is from the brand Spanx. These leggings look like leather but feel like an athletic legging, it’s amazing! They are high-waisted and have a control top, meaning, they will suck you in. For that reason, I would recommend going up a size (I am normally a medium in bottoms, and I went up to the large).
Outfit #1: Create a chic workwear look with either leggings and a white oxford

This is another great option for any girls in the relaxed work office setting. This is on the preppy side, but I personally think it’s real cute. If you’re looking to add something special to a look, think about layering, as that always makes an outfit unique. And with leather leggings on bottom, pair it with a classic oxford shirt (tunic length of course) and a structured vest to pull everything together. I’ve paired this with cute black mules + my favorite black sneakers, but when the temperatures drop, pull out your favorite black OTK boots and you’re set!
Outfit Details
Mules: Run TTS (wearing a size 8)
Sneakers: Here or here. These run slightly small, I sized up a half size (wearing a 8.5)
White Oxford: Runs large I sized down (wearing an x-small)
Long Vest: One-size fits most! RUN this is on sale!
Outfit #2: Cozy up with leather leggings and a tunic-length sweater

I’ve always found sweaters and leggings to be cute yet cozy, especially when traveling or running errands on the weekends. It’s an easy way to feel like you have your life together (even if you don’t), and to remain comfortable during transitional weather. I love this combo for traveling or weird weather days since you can use the tunic as a layering device, yet it’s very stylish. The leather leggings add a little elevation to the look.

Outfit #3: Add Texture by pairing leather leggings with denim

There’s something so cute about a denim jacket or button up and leather leggings. The contrast and textures somehow work in a casual and fun way. It’s a great way to dress down your leather and wear when running errands around town. I’ve added a striped tunic long sleeve to add in some pattern. I love this look and can’t deny an easy outfit where I can wear sneakers and still look put together!
