The Battle of the Sweaters

Happy Tuesday!

Today is the most Mondayest Tuesday ever! Sorry to start this blog off on a negative note, but Tuesdays really are my least favorite day of the week. Monday’s you’ve got a fresh new week, but then Tuesday morning hits you and your like wow, I’m not even half way through the work week. I call them #TerribleTuesdays. Okay, rant over! I had such a great weekend! I got my hair done, did some shopping with my Mom, and went out to dinner with my family!

My mom and I have always had similar taste in style, we have so many of the same items, and we will even share clothes + shoes! So, for today’s blog post I wanted to do something a little different. I present to you: THE BATTLE OF THE SWEATERS (in excited dramatic voice). I am going to share two looks, my ‘pick’ and my mom’s ‘pick’!

IMG_5083First up, my Mom’s pick! I definitely got my style preference from my mom, which is awesome because it makes shopping with her so fun and so easy! I would consider her style: classically girly. She has always had such a timeless style. She chose this AMAZING basket weave sweater. The detail on this sweater is beautiful, it is just so soft and cozy! My mom’s work requires her to dress up, so this works perfect for both work wear and weekend wear. The color is also extremely versatile, it has little black and gray flecks in the fabric. For this post she paired it with this black lace trimmed cami, dark skinny jeans, and our favorite black booties. My mom also loves jewelry, so to add a bit of glam, we completed the look with this Kendra Scott necklace, which is a favorite of both of ours.IMG_5071Sizing: Runs a bit large, for a more ‘fitted look’ size down. Wearing an x-small here.

img_4975.jpgNext up, Taylor’s pick! It was funny because the day I saw this sweater, was the same day mom picked up the basket weave sweater. The moment I saw it, I knew I loved it. So, I just kept telling myself “don’t try it on, don’t try it on”. That didn’t last long, after a few minutes of that, I caved and tried it on to “get it out of my system” and WELL I loved it! This came home with me and I am so happy it did. The button detail and the mock neckline are just so adorable. For me, my work place is ULTRA casual. I am typically the most dressed-up in the office. So, when fall and winter roll around, I want sweaters that I can wear with both jeans and leggings. For this post, I paired it with dark skinny jeans and our favorite black booties. This also looks ADORABLE with my leather leggings (stay tuned- next week I have a post dedicated to how I style my leather leggings!)

Outfit Details:

Sweaters: Both these sweaters are from a local shop called Twigs. If you are located in the Madison area, check them out- they are located at Hilldale. They have such a cute selection of clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, etc. if you are not from the area, they have an online store with FREE shipping.

Booties: These booties just check all the boxes! So cute, so comfortable, and so versatile. Need I say more?! I will be wearing these non-stop into fall and winter. I talk more about these in my Booties for Fall Blog.

Jeans: You’ve heard me talk about these jeans over and over again. I even included them in my Fall Capsule Wardrobe blog post, because they are just the perfect pair of jeans. The wash is just right, making them so versatile, while the button front gives them just a little something special. With Madewell denim, I size down. While my mom and I were shopping on Saturday, I had her grab me a pair of jeans just to see what a top would look like on, well I fell in LOVE and needed them. They are AG denim, and if you have not tried on this brand of jeans, you really should. They have just the right amount of stretch but hold you in, in all the right places. They are also SO comfortable and soft. I got my TTS in AG denim, 28.

Which look is your favorite? I honestly cannot decide. I love them both! & I might need that basket weave cardigan for myself…

I hope your week is off to a fantastic start! My sister is coming home from college for the weekend! So I am looking forward to spending time with the family.

Xo,

Taylor
