Happy Tuesday, friends!
Can you believe it is already September? Like where did summer go!? I hope you had a fantastic Labor Day weekend. Today’s forecast is in the 80’s but fall style is all I can think about, this is where fall transition pieces are great. You get all the fall vibes but aren’t a sweaty mess. A denim skirt is a great piece to transition into fall, really, they can be worn all year long if styled right.
I wore denim skirts all the time growing up, so I am so excited that they are coming back in style, they are just so fun and easy to wear. I’ve talked about this skirt on my Instagram, I own it in two washes, white (pictured in this post) and a dark denim. They both are from Madewell. They have enough stretch in them to move comfortably, without losing their shape and looking sloppy. It is also a great length, I wanted to find a skirt that was ‘work appropriate’ and these check that box.
The options for styling these skirts are somewhat limitless, I could go on with how to style them. The one ‘rule’ you should stick to with these is that your top needs to be tucked or tied in some way, this prevents you from looking frumpy. You could do a front tuck, knot the front of your shirt, or completely tuck in your shirt- like I have done in these photos.
In this post, I have paired my white skirt with my favorite black long sleeve, cashmere vest (which is so soft), tortoise shell necklace, my favorite leather cross body bag, and two different styles of shoes; flat mules and heeled mules. I love how this look turned out and will be wearing this on repeat into the fall.

Denim Skirt: Madewell (Wearing a size 27, runs TTS
Black Long Sleeve: Lands End (Wearing a size Medium, runs TTS, I buy these in multiple colors each fall)
Tan Vest: Nordstrom – Brand: Halogen (One size fits most, I also own the gray)
Necklace: Shop Twigs
Leather Bag: Nordstrom – Brand: Madewell (Also comes in black)
Sunglasses: Madewell
Leopard Mules: Madewell (Wearing size 8.5, size up a half size- run small
Heeled Mules: Target (Wearing size 8, runs TTS)
I also talk about both pairs of shoes in detail, in this post!
Below are other amazing denim skirt options!
J-Crew Denim Skirt: I love this option, it’s a medium wash denim, so it would be so versatile. It is a great length and I also love the raw hem on the bottom.
American Eagle High Waisted Denim Skirt: Another cute option. I would not place this in the category for appropriate work wear, but this would be perfect for the weekend or nighttime style. I love the distressing and raw hem on this one.
Levi’s ‘Mom’ Denim Skirt: This is such a fun twist on a denim skirt. The length and wash are great, but what I really love is the slit in the back with the bows! SO cute!
What’s everyone looking forward to this month? I personally love September because it’s still warm, but you get the cool crisp mornings.
I hope everyone has an amazing week!
